As part of the partnership between PAFO and the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), an international conference on financing small-scale agriculture will be organized early next year. This event will bring together experts, policymakers, investors, and representatives of farmers’ organizations to discuss challenges and opportunities in agricultural financing in Africa. This was one of the topics discussed during the visit of PAFO’s Board members to the AfDB headquarters in December 2024
The main objective of this conference is to highlight the realities of smallholder farmers and promote concrete solutions to improve their access to financial and technical resources. This initiative also aims to encourage investments in a more inclusive and sustainable agricultural sector.
“This conference will serve as a unique platform to highlight the realities of smallholder farmers and promote innovative approaches to agricultural financing,” said Ibrahima Coulibaly, PAFO President.
A strategic partnership for millions of smallholder farmers

In December, the Pan African Farmers Organisation (PAFO) Board members visited the headquarters of AfDB to strengthen strategic ties between the two institutions. During this meeting, discussions focused on implementing the memorandum of understanding between PAFO and AfDB. The agreement aims to mobilize more resources and enhance technical support for millions of smallholder farmers across the continent.
These farmers, critical to Africa’s food security and economic development, continue to face significant structural challenges. By working closely with AfDB, PAFO hopes to empower family farmers with the tools they need to boost their resilience and productivity.
A shared vision for sustainable impact

This partnership reflects a shared vision: accelerating the transformation of African agricultural systems amid growing climate and economic challenges. By combining their expertise, PAFO and AfDB aim to deliver sustainable solutions that directly benefit farmers and their families.
