As part of the “Women Lead” programme, a project implemented by PAFO in collaboration with AHA International and the German Rural Women’s Association (dlv), the last meeting in May 2024 also created an important network beyond national borders. It consisted of a webinar on “Inspiring Women Leaders from Africa and Germany”. The meeting focused on sharing the experiences and journeys of women in positions of responsibility. The special guest was Arianna Giuliodori, Executive Director of Eat Europe and former SE of the World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO).
Webinar Objectives :
– To build confidence: The webinar aims to encourage women leaders to share their experiences, thereby increasing their confidence and ability to influence high-level policy discussions.
– Sharing experiences: Participants had the opportunity to hear inspiring stories from women leaders, including Arianna Giuliodori, Executive Director of EAT Europe, who shared her expertise and insights on leadership.
– Political engagement: By learning from each other, participants will be better prepared to engage in policy discussions and influence decisions at the international level.

Importance of women’s leadership: Women’s leadership is essential to tackling global challenges such as climate change, social inequality and health crises. Women leaders bring unique perspectives and innovative solutions that contribute to significant change in their communities and beyond. However, there is still a long way to go to achieve gender parity in decision-making. This webinar is an important step in inspiring and motivating rural women to become more involved in leadership and to make their voices heard in the crucial discussions that are shaping the future of the agricultural sector.

Rural Women’s Leadership is a programme implemented by PAFO in partnership with AHA, with technical support from the German Rural Women’s Association (dlv) and financial support from BMZ.
