PAFO’s Workshop on Sustainable Knowledge Exchange

On July 15, 2024, PAFO, with financial support from FO4ACP and technical assistance from AHA, organized a workshop in Dar Es Salam, Tanzania. The event, titled “Supporting the Implementation of the Pan-African Farmers’ Exchange Platform: Building Sustainable Peer-to-Peer Exchange,” brought together PAFO leaders, the Executive Secretaries of member farmers’ organizations, and the 15 members of the Central Moderation Team (CMT), responsible for managing the Pan-African Farmers’ Exchange Platform, from 17 African countries.

The workshop aimed to ensure the sustainability of the Pan-African Farmers’ Exchange Platform, a crucial tool for knowledge sharing and capacity building among farmers’ organizations across the continent.

During the meeting, key aspects were discussed, including enhancing members’ skills, mobilizing new financial resources, and integrating the platform into existing structures to secure its long-term viability. Participants also proposed the creation of an academy dedicated to continuous training and agricultural innovation. The discussions highlighted the need to develop targeted fundraising campaigns and to increase youth engagement in the platform’s activities. Additionally, the creation of knowledge repositories and tailored training programs was recommended to support farmers’ organizations at all levels.

The workshop marks a decisive step in the future of African agriculture, laying the foundation for more resilient and inclusive cooperation to tackle the challenges of tomorrow.
