During the Steering Committee meeting of Farmers Organizations Leading Research & Innovation on agroecology for sustainable food systems (FORI) programme, both the European Commission and the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) expressed satisfaction with the results achieved after two years of implementation.
The FORI programme has demonstrated its ability to enhance farmers’ learning through peer-to-peer experiences and knowledge sharing across the three ACP regions. The Steering Committee members highlighted the positive impact of this innovative approach, which enables beneficiary farmers’ organizations to quickly enhance their skills in a manner tailored to their specific contexts. Fruitful exchanges among farmers from different ACP countries contribute to strengthening resilience in the face of various challenges, from climate change to market volatility. This encouraging interim assessment reinforces the relevance of the FORI programme and its alignment with the needs of ACP family farming. The European Commission and the OACPS reaffirmed their support for this ambitious programme, which fully aligns with the goals of sustainable transformation of food systems in the ACP regions. The next steps will focus on expanding the programme’s impact by reaching a growing number of farmers’ organizations, while leveraging lessons learned to continuously improve intervention modalities. Together, the partners of the FORI programme will continue to work towards inclusive and resilient agricultural development, benefiting the millions of small-scale producers who sustain their communities.
