The Pan-African Farmers Organization (PAFO) i s undertaking significant internal reforms to align its organizational structure with its strategic vision of empowering African farmers. These reforms, discussed during the recent Organizational Development workshop, supported by Andreas Hermes Akademie , are aimed at enhancing governance to maximize long-term impact and organizational effectiveness.

Under the leadership of PAFO President Ibrahima Coulibaly, the Board emphasized the need to adapt the electoral system and governance structures to ensure fair representation and more dynamic decision-making processes. These reforms go beyond technical adjustments; they are strategically designed to support PAFO’s core missions of advocating for access to finance, promoting climate resilience, and improving market access for farmers across the continent.
The overarching goal is to strengthen PAFO’s capacity to champion farmers’ interests while ensuring transparent and inclusive governance. By establishing robust governance mechanisms, PAFO aspires to position itself as a preferred partner for continental institutions and international stakeholders.

Moreover, these reforms are set to enhance PAFO’s ability to mobilize resources and strengthen strategic partnerships, notably with the African Union, to support agricultural development initiatives across Africa.
This strategic approach reaffirms PAFO’s commitment to evolving into a more influential organization, capable of driving meaningful change in African agriculture while ensuring that farmers’ voices are both heard and respected.
