After three days of impactful and strategic discussions in Addis Ababa, this third OD workshop by PAFO, in partnership with Andreas Hermes Akademie wraps up with concrete progress to strengthen PAFO and African Farmers Organizations.

PAFO concluded a comprehensive Organizational Development (OD) workshop focused on refining governance processes and electoral systems. This workshop was made possible through the ongoing technical support from Andreas Hermes Akademie (AHA), which has been assisting PAFO with structural reforms since January 2024.

During the workshop, the Board Members conducted an in-depth review of the current electoral system, identifying key areas for improvement to enhance transparency and efficiency. This included implementing clearer mandates and streamlining election procedures to align more effectively with the organization’s strategic objectives. Such measures are designed to ensure PAFO remains agile and responsive to the evolving needs of its members.
AHA Director, Nicole Bolomey expressed satisfaction with PAFO’s progress and praised the organization’s commitment to upholding high standards of governance. She reaffirmed AHA’s pledge of continued technical and financial support to facilitate these crucial reforms.
Additionally, a significant outcome of the workshop was the clarification of roles between the PAFO Secretariat and its regional networks. This redefinition ensures better coordination and efficiency, with the Secretariat handling continental and global agricultural matters while the regional networks address local and national initiatives, adhering to the principle of subsidiarity.

Through these initiatives, PAFO demonstrates a strong commitment to operational excellence and a strategic approach to governance, which will enable it to better serve the agricultural community across Africa.
