The Pan-African Farmers’ Organization (PAFO), with support from the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), is launching a call for applications for a Consultant (individual or firm) to design and deliver a capacity-building program for Young Women Leaders in Agri-Food Systems across Africa.
This consultancy is part of the AGRA-funded project:
“Strengthening Institutional and Organizational Capacity of PAFO for Youth Work Opportunities in Agrifood Systems” (2025–2028).
Young women are increasingly playing key roles in African agriculture—as farmers, agripreneurs, cooperative leaders, and innovators. Yet, their participation in policy spaces and decision-making processes remains limited. This consultancy seeks to close that gap.
Why This Consultancy Matters
Across the continent, young women are driving innovation in agri-food systems, leading enterprises and strengthening rural livelihoods. However, they often lack access to the platforms, training, and opportunities needed to contribute to policy dialogue, advocacy, and high-level engagement.
PAFO aims to empower these leaders by providing them with:
- Practical skills in leadership, advocacy, and policy engagement
- Understanding of agricultural policies and frameworks
- Tools for effective communication and negotiation
- Opportunities to participate in national, regional, and continental platforms
- A supportive space to connect, learn, and collaborate
The consultant will play a critical role in shaping this high-impact program.
Key Responsibilities
The consultant will:
1. Conduct Institutional & Capacity Assessments
- Assess the strengths, gaps, and needs of selected Young Women Leaders
- Review existing leadership and empowerment programs
2. Develop Tailored Training Modules
Including but not limited to:
- Leadership development
- Advocacy & policy engagement
- Negotiation skills
- Governance & representation
- Understanding agri-food systems frameworks
3. Deliver a 5-Day Training in Kigali (16–20 Dec 2025)
- Facilitate interactive workshops, case studies, and practical simulations
- Support peer-to-peer learning
4. Facilitate Online Learning & Exchanges
- Virtual workshops
- Knowledge sharing sessions
- Stakeholder dialogues
5. Support Policy Engagement Tools
- Templates for advocacy strategies
- Guidance for policy briefs
- Advice on engaging in policy forums
6. Document & Report
- Document activities, lessons learned, and outcomes
- Produce the final consultancy report
